The United States on Monday declined to confirm that two suicide bombing attacks at the weekend in Morocco's largest city of Casablanca were targeting American interests.

"We have not yet been able to determine with Moroccan authorities exactly the target of these bombers," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said.

"Some people have speculated that it may have been the consulate or it may have been an American center that is right nearby, we can't confirm that," he said.

The U.S. consulate remained closed to the public on Monday, the spokesman said.

Two suicide bombers reportedly killed themselves while detonating an explosion device Saturday in Casablanca, Morocco.

On April 10, three suicide bombers blew themselves up one after another in Casablanca, killing at least one and injuring dozens of others.
