Romanian Senate Speaker Nicolae Vacaroiu met with Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu on Sunday in Bucharest, vowing to contribute to the further development of ties with China.
Both officials agreed that the time-honored relations between the two countries should be further enhanced under the new circumstances. The two countries should strengthen mutual trust, promote trade and economic ties and make China-Romania cooperation more fruitful, they said.
Hui said that Chinese and Romanian lawmakers have conducted frequent exchanges in recent years, giving great impetus to the full development of friendly cooperation between the two countries.
He expressed his hope that the Romanian parliament will continue its support for friendship with China and breathe new life into bilateral ties.
Vacaroiu said that the Romanian parliament has a long history of friendly exchanges with the National People's Congress of China. The Romanian parliament is behind efforts to expand cooperation between the two countries and ready to do its part, he added.
Hui is on a four-nation Europe trip, which has already taken him to the Netherlands and Ukraine and will continue to Serbia after his visit to Romania.
