75 illegal laborers detained in Macao in Q1
font size

The Macao police have nabbed 75 illegal laborers in the first quarter, a year-on-year drop of 11 percent, according to official statistics issued Tuesday.

The figures from the Public Police showed that the authorities launched 212 swoops on 255 sites in the quarter and made identity checks on 5,292 people.

The employment of illegal workers is a crime that incurs hefty fines and imprisonment in case of repeat offenders. Illegally employed workers are customarily ordered to leave Macao.
