Senior officials of China, ASEAN to meet in east China

Senior officials of China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will hold their annual consultations in east China's Anhui Province from April 23 to 25, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao announced on Tuesday.

Assistant Chinese Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai and deputy foreign ministers of ASEAN countries will attend the meeting.

They are scheduled to discuss the follow-up actions on Implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea.

ASEAN was founded in 1967 and now groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam.
