A gunman killed 32 people at a Virginia Tech campus and then shot himself dead on Monday in the deadliest shooting rampage in US. Schools should be civilized places, free from violence. However, in recent years, shooting rampages have been on the increase, particularly in the US. Many of the gunmen have bee students. In grieving for the victims, one cannot help asking: what pushed these fragile souls over the age?
 October 3, 2006. A candlelight vigil is held for the victims of a school shooting in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. A 32-year-old gunman kills five girls at an Amish school in Pennsylvania before killing himself.
 September 13, 2006. A woman runs away horrified from a policeman at Dodson College in Montreal, Canada. A gunman killed 1 and injured 19 at the school. He was shot dead at the scene by police.
 March 22, 2005: Police cars parked outside Red Lake High School, Minnesota. A schoolboy killed 8 and injured 15 before shooting himself.
 May 9, 2003. A woman is evacuated from a building with the help of policemen. A gunman entered a university, in Cleveland, Ohio, and opened fire, leaving one dead and many injured. There was a seven-hour standoff with police before the gunman was brought into custody.
 May 3, 2002. Tens of thousands of people gather in memory of the victims of a school shooting accident at a church in Erfurt, Germany. On April 26, 2002, a 19-year-old youth, expelled form the Gutenberg School, barged into the school, killing 16 before turning the gun on himself.
 March 22, 2001. A student calls her family after a shooting incident. An 18-year-old gunman injures six people at El Cajon High School in San Diego, California.
 March 5, 2001. The mother of one of the victim weeps. Student opens fire at Santana High School in San Diego, California, killing 2 students and injuring 14.
 April 20, 1999. Ambulance officers rescue those injured in the shooting incident. Two teenagers shoot dead 12 students and a teacher before killing themselves at Columbine High School in Colorado.
