Malaysia's vehicle sales posted 38,619 units in March this year, down 16.6 percent year-on- year.
According to the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) here on Wednesday, compared to the previous month, the country's vehicle sales improved by 7,331 units or 23 percent.
Of the vehicles sold in March this year, passenger cars accounted for 35,159 units and commercial vehicles for 3,460 units, the association said.
The country's total vehicle production in March dropped to 37, 280 units from 52,978 units in the same period last year, it said.
The country produced 34,210 units of passenger cars and 3,070 units of commercial vehicles in the month.
During the first three months of this year, the country produced a total of 83,062 units of passenger cars and 9,084 units of commercial vehicles, while a total of 141,484 units of vehicles was turned out during the same period last year.
