A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has called for faster reform of the appointment system for mid-level and senior cadres and for greater democracy inside the Party.

He Guoqiang, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said on Wednesday at a national training program for newly-elected department heads in charge of CPC personnel affairs.

He, also head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, urged officials to advance with the times and to innovate working methods to gradually promote the openness of party work.

He required the officials to work according to the demands of the CPC central committee both in theory and practice.

He urged the officials to remember the people first, and to respect and care for CPC members, cadres and intellectuals.
