China has 82 mobile phone manufactures
font size

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) announced recently that four mobile phone manufacturing licenses were granted, bringing the total number of mobile phone manufacturers in the country to 82. To obtain a license, production should exceed one million devices. While the number of licenses being granted continues to increase, some mobile phone manufacturers are being forced out of the market as they can't innovate fast enough to keep up with market advance. The industry is entering a "survival of the fittest" era.

The National Development and Reform Commission also granted four mobile phone licenses in February. The influx of new Chinese mobile phone manufacturers on the market has not changed that fact that sales of Chinese phones are continuing to fall. Data shows that sales of Chinese brand mobile phones has fallen to 25 percent of the total, a historic low.
