Transnational drug syndicate cracked in HK
font size

Hong Kong Customs have foiled attempts of a transnational syndicate to smuggle dangerous drugs from the Golden Crescent area, through India or Thailand, to Hong Kong, the Customs said Friday.

The Customs cracked seven transnational drug-trafficking cases at the airport from March 21 to April 16 and seized six kg of high- grade heroin with a retail value of about 2.7 million HK dollars ( 346,154 U.S. dollars). Eight Thai women aged 22 to 48 have been charged.

The eight Thai women were used to smuggle concealed drugs, hiding them inside their body or in baggage compartments, shoe soles, underwear and sanitary napkins.

Close intelligence exchange between the Mainland Customs Anti- smuggling Bureau and Hong Kong Customs resulted in the success.
