Jakarta shares rebound on stronger rupiah, reshuffle plan

Share prices on the Jakarta Stock Exchange rose by 2.6 percent Friday on stronger rupiah and after President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono hinted a cabinet reshuffle to be announced next month.

The composite index surged 50.4 points to close at 1,968.7 points, with 3.7 billion shares worth 3.7 trillion rupiah (412.2 million US dollars) changing hands.

Advancers beat decliners 143 to 35, while 44 other issues left unchanged.
