Jordan's Transportation Ministry has awarded a 423-million-U.S.-dollar contract to a consortium led by Airports de Paris for the expansion of the kingdom's Queen Alia International Airport, local newspaper Jordan Times reported on Thursday.

The three-year project will include upgrading the airport's terminals and passenger facilities, in addition to expanding its area, Transportation Minister Saud Nseirat was quoted as saying.

According to the official, the consortium also includes the Greek-Cypriot Group J&P, Abu Dhabi Investment Corporation, Kuwait's Noor Financial Investments Company and the Amman-based EDGO Ventures.

The consortium was chosen from six coalitions of international firms which vied for the contract, Nseirat said, adding the agreement is due to be signed on May 17.
