Japanese PM to arrive in Kuwait Monday
font size

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will arrive in Kuwait next Monday on a two-day visit as part of his eight-day U.S. and Mideast tour, the official KUNA news agency reported on Thursday.

Abe, who left Tokyo for Washington on Thursday, will be the first Japanese premier to visit Kuwait since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1961, while the Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah has been to Tokyo in July 2004 as prime minister.

In Kuwait, the premier is expected to exchange views with Kuwaiti leaders on stabilizing energy supplies and the region's peace and stability, especially reconstruction assistance for Iraq, according to KUNA.
