More than 200 officials and experts on Friday gathered in Beijing to generate ideas on China's upcoming Energy Law.
The law being drafted will be the country's first fundamental and comprehensive energy law.
In his keynote speech at the seminar, Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan said the law will address issues impacting overall energy development and provide a legal framework for energy supply, preservation and cooperation.
Zeng said the law will define China's energy strategy, establish planning and drafting procedures and determine implementation mechanisms.
The law will also cover fiscal and tax policies, financing, market access and other issues in the energy sector, Zeng said.
Susan Tierney, chairwoman of the U.S. Energy Fund, also addressed the seminar.
Experts and officials from 20 countries, the European Union and other international organizations exchanged views on the new energy law.
The seminar was hosted by the office of the National Energy Leading Group, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council and the Finance Ministry.
