Hong Kong's exports of housewares to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) grew 187 percent in the first two months of 2007 over the same period in 2006, local newspaper Khaleej Times reported on Saturday.

In January and February 2007, Hong Kong exported housewares products worth 88 million U.S. dollars to the UAE, 187 percent up compared to the same period in 2006, the report said.

This was by far the largest increase in Hong Kong's housewares exports to any country in percentage terms during the period, the report added.

The UAE is the largest export market for Hong Kong's housewares products in the Middle East. It ranked 11th in the list of global destinations for housewares products from Hong Kong.

In 2006, Hong Kong exported housewares products worth 203 million dollars to the UAE.
