Afghan president calls on armed oppositions to give up resistance
font size

Afghan President Hamid Karzai Saturday called on armed militants to give up resistance and resume their normal life in the country.

"Today once again I am calling on those who play at the hands of Afghanistan's enemies and damage their country to give up militancy and resume normal life at home as a good citizen," President Karzai announced on the 15th anniversary of Afghan Mujahidin ( holy warriors) victory in 1992.

President Karzai stressed that peace in Afghanistan would benefit the whole region and called on neighboring states to help ensure durable peace in the post-Taliban central Asian state.

Fighting terrorism requires serious and honest cooperation of all the regional countries, the Afghan leader emphasized.
