CPC official stresses anti-corruption among grass-roots Party leaders
font size

A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Sunday called for more efforts to fight corruption among grass-roots Party members and leaders in rural areas.

He Yong, deputy secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), said anti-corruption is part of the economic, political, cultural, social and Party development agenda in rural areas.

"It should start with solving everyday problems that farmers care about most, especially problems affecting their basic interests," He said.

He said the CCDI should strengthen supervision of central government investment funds in rural areas, ensuring they really benefit farmers.

The CCDI should promote the transparency of village affairs, democratic financial management among villagers and the audit system for village heads, he said.

Villagers' suggestions and complaints should be heard by higher authorities without barriers being placed in the way, he added.
