Macao sees rise in number of cellphone subscribers

The number of Macao's mobile phone subscribers stood at 674,000 at the end of March, seeing a year-on-year rise of 23 percent, according to official statistics issued Tuesday.

Figures from the the government-run Statistics and Census Service showed that the number of fixed telephone users reached 177,142 at the end of February, seeing a year-on-year increase of 2 percent.

The number of Internet users stood at 107,000 at the end of February, rising 18 percent year-on-year, the figures showed.

The region has a population of 502,000.
