SilkAir of Singapore will increase another four flights per week from Singapore to China's southern city of Shenzhen beginning May 25, sources with the airline said on Tuesday.
The additional flights will raise the number of flights from Singapore to Shenzhen to 11 per week, and boost the company's transport capacity on the route to 1,088 seats a week.
With the new flights going into operation, double flights will be available on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
SilkAir launched the six-flights-per-week service to Shenzhen on Oct. 30, 2005, and began to offer daily flights in March 2007.
Apart from the increase of flights, SilkAir will readjust its flight departure schedule at Shenzhen to provide passengers with more flexibility of transfer from Singapore to Southeast Asia, West Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Europe.
"The additional flights are a reflection of our continued commitment and confidence in the booming city of Shenzhen and the Pearl River Delta area," said SilkAir Shenzhen Manager Tan Han Soo.
SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, covers 26 flight destinations in countries such as Cambodia, India, Indonesia and China.
