font size

Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala called for sustainable peace in the country on Wednesday, which marks Buddha's 2551st birth anniversary.

In a message of best wishes on the occasion, Koirala said every particle of Nepal has been nurtured by Lord Buddha's message of peace and goodwill, adding that however the same Nepal had to suffer for a long time of murder, violence and disorder.

"We should all set aside the small differences and misunderstandings that we have, if any, and fulfill the responsibility of building a new and prosperous Nepal through mutual unity and goodwill," he said.

He expressed hope that the country would never have to bear such crisis and difficulty and lasting peace would be realized.

He said sustainable peace is the primary need for the uplift and progress of any country and for safeguarding the overall interest of human beings.

Leaders of other political parties in the country also gave messages, wishing for happiness, peace and prosperity in the country.

Nepal was the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha.
