Indonesia's year on year inflation in April reaches 6.29 pct

Indonesia's year on year inflation in April (April 2007 to April 2006) reaches 6.29 percent, lower than of April 2006 to April 2005 which was 15.4 percent, the Central Statistic Bureau announced Tuesday.

In April deflation was 0.16 percent, the head of the bureau Rusman Heriawan said.

The deflation was driven by the decrease of prices shown by the decrease of index of a group of goods and services, including unprocessed food by 1.30 percent, and education and recreation and sport 0.03 percent, said Heriawan.

In the meanwhile, the index increases in the groups of processed food and drink, cigarette and tobacco by 0.38 percent; housing, water, electricity gas and fuel 0.26 percent; clothing 0. 61 percent; health 0.32 percent; and transport communication and financial services 0.22 percent, he said.

The head of the bureau said the deflation occurred in 30 out of 45 cities in the country.
