S. Korean special trade mission to visit Myanmar

A special trade mission of South Korea will visit Yangon next week in an attempt to seek enhancement of trade between the two countries, according to Voice journal Wednesday.

Quoting the South Korean Embassy sources, it said that the South Korean mission will meet with Myanmar businessmen on May 11.

Business organizations of Myanmar and South Korea agreed last year to enhance trade between the two sides and seek more economic opportunities for South Korean entrepreneurs to be engaged in Myanmar.

The move was boosted under a memorandum of understanding signed between the Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Hwaseong Chamber of Commerce and Industry of South Korea.

Myanmar-South Korea bilateral trade amounted to 124.59 million U.S. dollars in the fiscal year 2005-06 with Myanmar's exports to South Korea standing 38.63 million dollars and its imports from the country taking 85.96 million dollars, according to Myanmar official statistics.
