Press Freedom Day observed in Nepal

The World Press Freedom Day 2007 was observed Thursday in Nepal with the slogan of "professional security for journalists."

The umbrella organization of Nepalese working journalists, Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ), and the Press Union organized various programs to mark the day.

The FNJ organized a corner meeting at the capital city, where the speakers emphasized the immediate implementation of the working journalists act in Nepal.

Prior to its meeting, the FNJ also organized a rally that went around various thoroughfares of the city.

The participants expressed concern of continued lack of a sense of professional security and demanded that they be allowed to conduct their affairs unhindered.
