Indonesia sees car sales up in AprilCar sales in Indonesia are estimated to reach some 35,000 units in April, up 55 percent from 22,578 units in the same month last year, a leading economic daily reported Friday. April is expected to be the highest selling month since October 2005 when the government more than doubled fuel prices, hurting the auto market and causing a sales fall of more than 50 percent in 2006, reported Bisnis Indonesia. Japanese cars made up of some 33,000 units of the total sales last month. The launching of new models and declining interest rate significantly helped boost sales across the country, it said. The Indonesian automotive industries association Gaikindo has set full year sales target at 380,000 units this year, against the market realization of 318,000 last year. Source: Xinhua |
