Algerian small and medium-sized businesses have created about 95,000 new jobs in 2006, local press reported on Saturday.
Without causing quite a "stir," the small and medium-sized businesses is currently moving forward slowly, but in a process which is favorable to the opening up of its economic window, according to Algerian daily "El Moudjahid."
According to statistics, a total of 376, 767 small and medium- sized businesses which are both private and public, currently employ about 1.2 million people, compared to 1.15 million people in 2005.
The services sector remains the head with 123,782 small and medium-sized businesses enterprises enrolled in, followed by the building industry with 90,702 enterprises.
Meanwhile, the agriculture and fishing industries starts to attract more attention from new investors, with 3,186 and 793 enterprises respectively in 2006.
