Roadside bombing kills 3 policemen in C. Afghanistan

A roadside bombing killed three policemen and injured two others in Muqar district of Ghazni province in central Afghanistan on Sunday morning, district chief Hajji Mohammad Aslam told Xinhua.

A remote-controlled bomb targeted a police van protecting a road construction company at 7:30 a.m. (0300 GMT) in the district, killing three policemen and wounding two others, Aslam said.

The police van was totally destroyed, he added. But he did not say the company was a foreign or an Afghan one.

However, he said the company was building the road connecting Muqar to the eastern Paktika province.

No groups or individuals have claimed responsibility.

Due to rising Taliban-linked insurgency, over 1,100 persons, mostly Taliban rebels, have been killed in Afghanistan this year.
