The ongoing census of Bhutanese refugees living in the seven camps in eastern Nepal may be concluded by May 11, local media said on Monday.
The census, a joint exercise by the United Nations Refugees Agency (UNHCR) and the Nepali government, may be completed by then, local news website ekantipur.com reported.
"Once we are confident that the information we have is reliable, the UNHCR and the Nepali government will come to a point where we agree as to what data to release to the public," Davies Kamau, a UNHCR registration officer, was quoted as saying.
Previous government estimates place the number of Bhutanese refugees at about 107,000.
