Emirates Airlines ordered four additional A380 jetliners from Airbus and confirmed its previous order of 43 planes, French aircraft maker Airbus said in a statement Monday.
With the new order worth 1.22 billion U.S. dollars, the airline has ordered a total of 47 A380 jetliners, making it the largest client of A380.
According to the program, Emirates Airlines is expected to receive its first A380 jetliner during the third quarter of 2008.
Airbus chief executive Louis Gallois said the order represented an important vote of confidence in his company.
Airbus has, on several occasions, postponed the launch and delivery of the A380, a move which has brought about negative consequences for the company in terms of financial aspect in the domain of personnel and strategic projects.
