Chinese shares open higher on May 9

Chinese shares started higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index opening at 3,961.10 points, up 11.09 points, or 0.28 percent.

The index, which tracks both yuan-denominated A shares and hard-currency B shares traded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, closed at 3,950.01 points on Tuesday.
