font size

British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Office Margaret Beckett will pay an official visit to China from May 16 to 21 as guest of Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi.

It was announced by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu at the regular briefing on Thursday.

When asked about China-Britain relations, the spokeswoman said the bilateral ties maintain good momentum of development in recent years with establishment of a mechanism on top-level exchanges and all-round cooperation.

As this year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level between China and Britain, Jiang said China will continue to work with Britain to strengthen their comprehensive strategic partnership and advance such partnership.
