Second Himalayan Int'l Travel Mart kicks off in Kathmandu

The second Himalayan International Travel Mart-2007, kicked off in Kathmandu on Friday.

A total of 76 international delegations from 12 countries and more than 100 tour operators are participating the three-day exhibition, according to a statement issued by Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA).

In order to showcase and promote the unique tourism products of the country, a National Tourism Fair, which features culture, tradition and lifestyle of Nepali people, is also being organized on the sidelines of the event by Nepal Tourism Board.

The first NATTA Himalayan International Travel Mart concluded successfully in 2005 which was participated by more than 200 tour operators from South and South East Asian countries.

"After the successful completion of the First Mart, this Mart was mooted to provide continuity in the changing context of New and Peaceful Nepal as envisioned by the people of this country," the statement said, adding "More than 100 tour operators from India, Bangladesh, China, Spain, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and United Arab Emirates have already confirmed their participation in this travel mart."

"Ultimate goal is to establish Nepal as most enchanting next generation holiday destination," said the statement.

The event was sponsored by Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA), Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal Tourism Board and Nepal Airlines Corporation.
