China and Cote d'Ivoire on Friday signed an economic and technological cooperation agreement and a memo on Cote d'Ivoire's recognition of the market-economy status of China.

Youssouf Bakayoko, minister of foreign affairs of Cote d'Ivoire, and Wei Jianguo, vice commerce minister of China, signed the agreement and memo on behalf of their respective countries on Friday afternoon.

In talks with Bakayoko on Friday morning, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said China is willing to make concerted efforts with Cote d'Ivoire to enhance mutual political trust, strengthen friendly exchanges, deepen and expand cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, culture, education, health care and personnel training.

Yang described the bilateral relationship as having kept a sound and smooth development since the two countries forged diplomatic ties 24 years ago, and called for the two countries to cement collaboration in dealing with international affairs.

Yang said China has supported Cote d'Ivoire's peace process and will continue to do so.

Bakayoko expressed his appreciation for China's great support for the peace process of Cote d'Ivoire and huge assistance given by China in enabling the African country to implement many projects.

Cote d'Ivoire thanked China's efforts to support it in safeguarding national sovereignty, dignity and legal rights and interests, Bakayoko said, adding that his country firmly adheres to the one-China policy.

Bakayoko also briefed Yang on the latest conditions of the peace process in Cote d'Ivoire.
