Sri Lanka raises fuel prices
font size

The Sri Lankan government said that fuel prices have been raised with effect from midnight local time on Friday.

A statement from the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation said that the price hike was due to pressures created by high cost of global oil prices.

The price of diesel has been raised to 67 rupees per liter from 65 rupees and the price of petrol has been raised by one rupee to 106 rupees per liter from 105 rupees per liter.

This was the third fuel price hike during the last three weeks.

Sri Lanka imports all its crude oil requirement despite the government making initial plans for oil exploration in the island's northeastern coast.
