President of the Republic of Benin Dr. Bino Yayi has canceled his four-day visit to Malaysia, the Malaysian Foreign Ministry said Saturday.
No reason was given for the cancellation of the official visit originally scheduled to kick off Sunday, the ministry was quoted as saying by the national news agency Bernama.
According to original arrangements, Yayi was supposed to meet Malaysian Supreme Head of State Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
"Both sides are expected to discuss, among other things, bilateral issues, and regional and international developments of mutual concern," the ministry said earlier in a statement.
Yayi has not visited Kuala Lumpur on an official tour. He came to Malaysia on a private visit last September.
