Polish President Lech Kaczynski said Saturday that the informal two-day energy summit of six countries was more successful than expected.
This energy summit, initiated by Kaczynski, curtained in Cracow, a city of southern Poland, on that very day. It was also attended by the presidents of Lithuania, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan. Kazahstan's President Nursaltan Nazarbajew was not present but sent the vice-minister who is in charge of the sources of energy to attend the conference.
During the summit, all participants expressed their hope to reinforce the cooperation in the energy field, the Polish news agency PAP reported.
Kaczynski said a joint declaration of setting up an international working team concerning the sources of energy problem was issued, though no concrete agreement was signed.
Kaczynski also indicated the next summit will be held in Vilnius, capital of Lithuania in October this year.
He hoped that other European Union member countries can participate the conference at the appointed time as well as Turkmenistan.
The two-day talks focused on plans of oil imports from the south-eastern direction in this summit. They agreed to set up a combine to be responsible for the organization and preparation of the extended Odessa-Brody pipeline build project.
The Odessa-Brody pipeline from Ukraine's Black Sea coast to Polish-Ukrainian border was completed in 2002. The extension project to the Polish port of Gdansk would make it possible to deliver Caspian crude to Poland and then to other European states.
