The United Nations has appointed Nigeria's Eleanor Nwadinobi as Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Chairperson on NGOs, the News Agency of Nigeria reported on Saturday.
In a statement released in the Nigerian capital Abuja, the organization also said that Nwadinobi has been appointed into the executive committee of its Department of Public Information (DPI).
The statement explained that the executive committee was established to assist in the dissemination of information about the UN.
It said that Nwadinobi is expected to coordinate the sharing of information about goals and activities of the UN in respect of the Millennium Development Goals and other relevant issues.
Nwadinobi was the President of the Widows Development Organization and National President of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria.
