Three Libyan extremists have been arrested in Algiers by Algerian security services, Algerian official news agency APS reported on Saturday.

An Algerian national who offered support to the Libyans for joining in Al Qaeda's North African branch, former Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC) has also been arrested, a security service source was quoted as saying by APS.

The three Libyan, aged between 22 and 25, had been recruited in Libya by the extremist network, according to the same source, adding that the arrest was facilitated by the information of some former members of GSPC.

The Al Qaeda's North African branch has claimed responsible for the two car bombs on April 11 in Algiers, among which one aimed at the government headquaters, leaving 30 people dead and some 220 injured.

It is the first time for a long period that the Algerian official media reported the arrest of foreign extremists.
