A bicycle bomb exploded at a market in the Turkish port city of Izmir on Saturday, killing one person and injuring 14 others, the Anatolia news agency reported.
The explosion occurred one day before a planned rally in Izmir which was expected to draw hundreds of thousands of people to demonstrate against the government of Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan.
The bomb exploded in the early morning at a market in Bornova district and there were relatively few people at the time, with most of the injured being tradespeople working at the market.
One person was seriously wounded and died in hospital later, according to Anatolia.
Nobody has claimed responsibility for the bombing yet. The bomb is thought to have been fastened to a bicycle.
Izmir's mayor, Aziz Kocaoglu, said he did not think there was any connection between the attack and the planned demonstration.
