Chinese, Lao party officials meet on closer bilateral ties

Liu Qi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met here Monday with Sombath Yialiher, a member of Secretariat of the Central Committee of Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP), exchanging views on strengthening relations between the two parties and the two countries.

Liu, also secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, told Sombath that he is glad that China-Laos relationship has been continuously deepened in recent years.

He said the CPC and the Chinese government will continue as always to promote the development of China-Laos good-neighborly relations of comprehensive cooperation.

Sombath said the Lao party and government attach great importance to the Laos-China friendly and cooperative ties, and are actively implementing the consensus reached by the leaders of both parties and countries on furthering bilateral relations.

Sombath, who is also secretary of LPRP Vientiane Committee, headed a delegation of the Vientiane Committee for a visit to China from May 10 to 17.
