Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met with a delegation from the Syrian Baath Socialist Party led by Abdullah al Ahmar in Beiijng Monday.

Wang said the CPC attaches great importance to friendly cooperation between China and Syria.

Abdullah al Ahmar said the Baath Socialist Party wishes to further expand cooperation with the CPC in order to promote development of the two countries' relations.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues.
