China is willing to continue to cooperate with global anti-terrorism efforts, China's ambassador to the United Nation's (UN) body in Vienna said Thursday.
Tang Guoqiang, the Chinese permanent representative to the UN and other international organizations in Vienna, made the statement in a two-day symposium convened to implement the United Nation's global counter-terrorism strategy.
China will actively take part in the cooperation against terrorism in the light of the UN strategy, Tang said, adding that the country will offer assistance to other developing countries where it can.
The UN strategy was adopted on last September by the General Assembly as a unique global instrument that will enhance national, regional and international efforts to combat terrorism.
The strategy embodies the consensus member states have reached to work together to fight terrorism and contains the strategic guidelines to implement this cooperation, Tang said.
China hoped the international community and especially the developed countries would strengthen their efforts on measures contained in the strategy to eliminate conditions conducive to the spread of terrorism, Tang said.
Countries around the world should come together and take a stand against terrorism, which Tang said was unacceptable, no matter who commits it and no matter what the reason.
The symposium, held here on Thursday, brought together representatives of member states, UN bodies, regional organizations and counter-terrorism experts to discuss how they can best work together on the concrete measures required by the global strategy.
