Wang Min elected Party Chief of northeast China's Jilin Province

Wang Min was elected secretary of the Jilin Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Friday.

Wang was elected to the post at the first plenary session of the 9th CPC Jilin Provincial Committee held in Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin Province.

Wang, born in March 1950, is a native of Anhui Province. With a doctorate in machinery manufacturing, Wang took on jobs as a farmer, worker and college teacher before becoming deputy president of Nanjing Aeronautics and Astronautics University. He was made deputy governor of Jiangsu Province, east China, in December 1996.

Wang became deputy secretary of Jilin Provincial Committee of the CPC in October 2004, and was elected governor of Jilin in January 2005. In December 2006, he was promoted to be secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee.
