World crude oil futures mixed
font size

World crude oil futures ended mixed on Friday after the previous day's sharp rise.

Light, sweet crude for June delivery rose 8 cents to 64.94 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Brent crude for June delivery fell 85 cents to 69.42 dollars a barrel on the ICE Futures exchange in London.

World crude oil futures rose by more than 2 dollars on Thursday amid concerns over gasoline supply.

U.S. Energy Department reported on Wednesday that its crude inventories rose by 1 million barrels last week, and its gasoline stockpiles rose by 1.7 million barrels.

Gasoline supplies are closely watched as the summer driving peak is around the corner. Even though gasoline prices may be higher this summer, U.S. motor fuel demand will remain strong, the department predicted.
