Official urges all grassroots units to devise plans to cope with emergencies
font size

State Councilor Hua Jianmin has urged all grassroots units including communities, villages and institutions to work out their own plans for dealing with accidents and emergencies.

Hua made the remarks on Saturday while watching flood-fighting drills in Zhuji City in east China's Zhejiang Province.

In his speech, the state councilor highlighted the importance of taking a proactive approach to the management of emergencies, so as to safeguard lives, security, and social stability.

He urged grassroots units to increase their ability to handle different kinds of emergencies. The reduction of losses from accidents and emergencies is particularly important this year with the opening of the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in the second half of the year, he said.
