font size

Algerian security forces have smashed a criminal group suspected of having connections to last month's terrorist attacks in Algiers, the Algerian News Agency reported Saturday.

A total of 12 suspects were arrested during the operation and the security forces also found large quantities of explosive materials in their hideouts.

The capital Algiers was hit on April 11 by two car bombs, one of which was aimed at a downtown government building.

Up to 30 people were killed in the attacks which also wounded more than 220.
