The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will launch online work permit transactions from May 27, local newspaper Gulf News reported on Sunday.
According to a new circular of the UAE Ministry of Labor, approved work permits notification will be posted on the Ministry's website www.mol.gov.ae, the report said.
The decision to conduct work permit transactions online aims to speed up the transaction process for companies across the country, Humaid Bin Deemas, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry, was quoted as saying.
"The new procedures will make us less dependent on typing offices, as the transactions will be processed online. The electronic processing of work permits will also help prevent forgery," Deemas added.
According to the new rule, work permits will no longer be sent to Emirates Post and applicants will have to print out the notification of approving the work permits from the Ministry's website and then pay the work permit fees and bank warranty to complete the transaction.
Applicants will later have to submit the notification letters to the licensing department at the ministry to get the work permits and go to the Naturalization and Residency Department to complete the application.
