Nanwan, China's first natural reserve aimed at protecting macaques, in which about 2000 such animals are living, has become one of the favorite resorts for tourists to Hainan. Bird flu outbreaks in village in central China
Chinese health officials inspect a disinfected area at Shijiping village in Taojiang County, Central China's Hunan province, May 20, 2007. Bird flu has killed 11,172 poultry in Shijiping, Xinhua said Saturday. A further 52,800 birds were also slaughtered to prevent any spread of the disease. Agriculture officials say that the outbreak had brought under control.
