Chinese shares closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closing up at 4,072.22 points, 41.96 points, or 1.04 percent, higher than the previous close.

The index, which tracks both yuan-denominated A shares and hard-currency B shares traded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, closed at 4,030.26 points on Friday.
