font size

As part of the India-Japan Friendship Year celebration, India will hold a mango festival in Tokyo from May 23 to 28, the Indian Commerce ministry said in New Delhi Tuesday.

The festival will be launched by Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath. A short film on Indian Mangoes will be screened at the launch party and there would be a display of the various varieties of Indian mangoes.

The launch of the festival will be followed by in-store promotions from May 24 to 28 at selected departmental stores and super markets. Promotion of mango cuisine will be held from May 24to 28 at selected Indian restaurants.

India is the largest producer of mangoes in the world (approximately 14 million tons) contributing more than 50 percent share of the world production, the ministry said.
