font size

China's top legislator Wu Bangguo arrived in Budapest on Tuesday for a friendly and official visit to Hungary.

In a statement delivered at the airport upon his arrival, Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of National People's Congress, said that ties between China and Hungary are at a historical height and the two sides have successfully expanded political mutual trust, trade cooperation and humanitarian exchange which already brought concrete profits to the two peoples.

Wu, as a guest of Hungary's House Speaker Szili Katalin, will meet Hungarian President Laszlo Solyom, Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany and hold talks with Szili in an exchange of views on the China-Hungary relations, inter-parliamentary cooperation and issues of common concern.

Hungary is the second leg of Wu's three-nation tour to Africa and Europe, which will also take him to Poland. Prior to Hungary, Wu already paid a successful visit to Egypt.
