CNPC heads exploration of world largest oil, gas field

The China Natural Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), and a wholly owned subsidiary, Changqing petroleum, signed a natural gas well drilling service contract with Turkmenistan recently. The contract mainly concerns drilling and exploration work of the twelve natural gas wells in Gunorta Eloten oil and gas field. The contract, an overseas service contract involving the largest sum so far, is worth U.S.$150 million. The Gunorta Eloten oil and gas field, the largest natural gas field in the world now, is expected to yield a reserve of 7 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.
